Our Story

Wyse Guide began as a passion project for Kaleb Wyse, a fourth-generation farmer who grew up immersed in the rhythms of gardening, preserving, and cooking. Inspired by the traditions passed down from his parents and grandparents, Kaleb first started sharing his love for homegrown food and hospitality online in 2012.

Kaleb’s passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with his mom and grandma in their expansive farm yard. Pulling weeds and picking vegetables were accompanied by stories and question-and-answer sessions. Most kids would have wanted to be inside, but something kept Kaleb outside working right alongside the older generation.

Kaleb’s love for baking came from innumerable short walks to his grandma Alice’s home to make cookies. Their farms were about a quarter of a mile apart, and this farm is the one that he now lives on.

Cooking and canning were skills Kaleb learned from his mom and grandma. In their Iowa farmhouse, after fruits and vegetables were picked, they preserved them for the winter months, and he couldn’t get enough of the action.

Kaleb’s love for the holidays is a direct gift from his mom, Jodi. She made every holiday an occasion. The house was always warm from baking, with no additional places to hang the decorations. That being said, his sister, Kelsey, and he always seemed to find an open spot for just one last ornament on the tree.

What started as a small collection of recipes and gardening tips, honed from Kaleb’s genuinely learned skills, has grown into a trusted resource for thousands seeking to connect with their food, their homes, and their communities.

Today, Wyse Guide is more than just one person; it’s a team of passionate creators, gardeners, and cooks dedicated to bringing the best of the farm to your kitchen.
